This rifle is perfect for the shooter who desires a classic Savage model 99 Takedown in excellent mechanical condition without having to pay collector prices.
The bore is very nice with no pitting or wear evident. It is clear that it was well taken care of. Even though the rifle has been well-used, it has not been abused. The stock has a thick coat of spar varnish most likely applied to protect it from the elements. The wood underneath looks like it should be in excellent condition and could be refinished very nicely. The checkering seems to be all there. The grip cap is cracked and loose. A pass is installed in the butt stock. About 80% of the finish remains on the receiver but the barrel has lost most of its original finish. The action remains very tight. The rifle was manufactured in 1929. 24-inch barrel
Spool magazine with cartridge counter.
