Here we have a splendid benchrest/varmint getter in a Savage Model 12 bolt action rifle chambered in .22-250 caliber. The .22-250 Remington is a very high-velocity, short action, .22 caliber rifle cartridge primarily used for varmint hunting and small game hunting. It is capable of reaching over 4000 feet per second. The .22-250 started life as a wildcat cartridge developed from the .250-3000 Savage case necked down to take a .224 caliber bullet. In the early days of the cartridge there were several different versions that varied only slightly from one to the next, including one developed in 1937 by Grosvenor Wotkyns, J. E. Gebby and J. B. Smith who named their version the 22 Varminter. The 26 inch heavy target/bench/varmint barrel has a very good bore with strong button rifling and a crowned muzzle. The rifle has the Savage user adjustable target AccuTrigger for a personalized trigger pull. The metalwork has a little high edge wear but the rifle overall is in very good condition. Atop the rifle is a Mueller 8-32x44 target scope with exposed turrets for dialing and a paralax compensation knob, rings and two piece bases. This rig is ready to go to the range or eliminate some fiesty varmints.
