1950s-60s SAVAGE M24 OVER/UNDER Combination .22 RF Rifle/410 Shotgun C&R
Replacement for the STEVENS MODEL 22-410
Description: 1950s-60s SAVAGE M24 OVER/UNDER Combination .22 RF Rifle/410 Shotgun C&R Replacement for the STEVENS MODEL 22-410 Here we present a C&R Savage Arms Model 24 Over/Under Rifle/Shotgun combination gun, made in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts during its production run between 1950 and 1965. The Savage Model 24 was actually introduced by Stevens Arms as the Model 22-410 in 1938. In 1950, Stevens stopped making the 22-410, and Savage introduced the same gun as the Model 24. This is a versatile firearm that combines the functionality of both a shotgun and a rifle. It features a standing breech, break action system with a rebounding hammer, allowing for easy switching between the two barrels. The founder of Savage Arms, Arthur W. Savage was a restless and very productive sort who did a little bit of everything during his lifetime. He was born in Kingston, Jamaica to British parents in 1857. He went to school in Baltimore, Maryland in the United States and then in the UK. From there he moved about until he found himself in Australia looking for precious stones, exploring, homesteading and running cattle. He married and started his family (8 children) there before moving to Jamaica to try his hand at agriculture. Some sources say that he grew coffee and some bananas; likely, it was both. Moving on from there, he managed the Utica Belt Line Railroad in New York. The overall condition is nearing fine. Original blue finish is preserved. Case color remnants on the lock. The stock and forend are good with a crack at the wrist on the right side. Strong action. The rifle bore is bright with good rifling. Bright shotgun bore, remains smooth. The markings are legible. Own the original! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrels are 24 inches. Caliber: .22 LR Rimfire - rifle. .410 - shotgun. Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe.
