RARE Very Early Savage Model 1919 NRA .22 Target Rifle 4-Digit Serial Number over 100 Hundred Years Old AMN
Description: Another “ESTATE” firearm listing brought to you from Dust 2 Dollars who prides themselves on showing the complete gun in high quality pictures along with a detailed description for your consideration. We offer you a “RARE” and Very Early 4-Digit Serial Number Savage Model 1919 NRA .22 Rifle over 100 Hundred Years Old. The rifle is all original with the exception of a later factory version of the magazine. The assembly numbers on the butt plate and stock are matching. The 25 inch barrel has a shootable bore that is a little rough with good rifling. The stock is in very fine condition showing some marks and small dings as shown with no cracks, chips or repairs. The bluing is showing some thinning and color change from age but with no pitting. The top of the barrel is marked "MANUFACTURED BY SAVAGE ARMS CORP. UTICA, N.Y. U.S.A. / PATENTED NOV. 28 1905, SEP. 7,1915. SEP. 4 1917. NOV. 20. 1917 / .22 LONG/RIFLE. The rear of the receiver is marked with the serial number “2237”. This is a very early Savage Model 1919 that was manufactured in 1919 or 1920 by the serial number. These early NRA models have the small ejection port with the early type bolt with double firing pins. The 1919 was fitted with an undercut front sight of the same type as proposed by Major John Dooley of the Marine Corps and the U.S. Cartridge Co., for use on the Marines’ Model 1903 rifles. The rear sight is an excellent design with a very compact aperture and screw-adjustable one minute increments for elevation and windage. That sight assembly resides in a dovetail assembly that is attached to the receiver with two screws. The 1919 action cocked on the closing stroke of the bolt, a feature advertised as providing more positive primary extraction. The trigger is adjustable and is set right now for a light release. The rifle functions as it should with no issues. $299 Payment to be made by USPS Money Order or Cashier’s Check. All firearms come with a 3-day inspection from D2D’s. It will be shipped fully insured to your FFL or C&R (where allowed) UPS Ground for $50 with signature required. It will be shipped in a new foam lined double wall cardboard box that we have manufactured for us so that your gun arrives safe. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Rifle Caliber: .22 Long Rifle |
