SAVAGE ARMS 99 .300 SAVAGE
Description: Guns Listing ID: 652491 RIFLE: SAVAGE ARMS MODEL 99, SERIAL NUMBER 683460, BLUE, CASE NOT INCLUDED, LEVER, 300 SAVAGE, 24\" Notes: The 1953 Savage Model 99 chambered in .300 Savage is a classic hammerless lever-action rifle, highly regarded for its rotary magazine and its role as a premier \"deer woods\" rifle of the mid-20th century. Action Type: Solid-frame lever action with an internal hammer. Magazine: Five-round rotary magazine featuring a unique brass round counter visible through a window on the left side of the receiver. Caliber: .300 Savage, a cartridge designed in 1920 to mimic .30-06 ballistics in a shorter action for use in lever-action rifles. Barrel Length: Typically 24 inches for the 99-R and 99-EG models produced in that era. Design Features: Internal Hammer: Reduces lock time and prevents snagging on clothing or brush. Cocking Indicator: A small pin or nub on top of the receiver that indicates if the rifle is cocked. Spitzer Bullet Capability: Unlike tube-fed lever actions, the rotary magazine allows for pointed (spitzer) bullets, which offer a flatter trajectory and better range. Model 99-EG: The most prolific version, featuring a standard checkered pistol grip stock and a schnabel forend. Model 99-R: Often referred to as the \"Heavy Rifle,\" it features a heavier stock with a semi-beavertail forend and a 24-inch barrel. Ballistics: The .300 Savage pushes a 150-grain bullet at approximately 2,630 ft/s, making it effective for deer, elk, and moose at ranges up to 300 yards. FFL TO FFL TRANSFER ONLY SOLD Manufacturer: SAVAGE ARMS Model: 99 Caliber Info: .300 SAVAGE Condition: Used - Non-Certified Barrels: 24" BARREL Action: LEVER ACTION Finish: Blue |
