Description:
Here we have a classic Savage Model 24 combination gun chambered in the highly desirable .22 Magnum Rimfire (.22 WMR) over .410 Bore with a 3-inch chamber. Manufactured by Savage Arms Corporation, Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts, this early production example features 24-inch barrels, an original color case hardened receiver, and exceptionally attractive walnut furniture. The Savage Model 24 has earned a reputation as one of the finest all-purpose hunting and utility firearms ever produced. The combination of a flat-shooting .22 Magnum Rimfire rifle barrel and a 3-inch .410 shotgun barrel provides outstanding versatility for squirrels, rabbits, grouse, turkey, varmints, and general farm or camp use.
This rifle remains in very good overall condition. The receiver retains its original color case hardening with an attractive aged patina displaying shades of blue, gray, straw, and brown. The 24-inch barrels retain strong original blue with only light handling wear consistent with careful field use. The walnut buttstock and forearm are exceptionally attractive, exhibiting figure well above what is normally encountered on production Model 24s and showing beautifully.
Mechanically, the firearm is excellent. The action locks up tight, and both barrels have excellent, bright bores with sharp rifling. It is ready for hunting or collecting.
