Early Production Swiss Model 1889 Schmidt-Rubin Rifle With Two-Digit
Description: Serial #16, 7.5mm Swiss, 30 3/4" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is an extremely early production example of the Swiss Model 1889 straight-pull Schmidt-Rubin rifle and retains 92-95% of the original blue finish that has silvered at the muzzle, as well as along the raised surfaces and projections. The matching-numbered bolt has its original arsenal bright finish with some dulling over time, and the red-brown resin handle is intact. The wooden stock and handguard have an armory added varnish finish over some small handling marks and minor blemishes throughout. The rifle is also accompanied by a correct, sheet metal muzzle-cover, and rates fine-near excellent overall. This is a fabulous early Schmidt-Rubin, likely assembled on the first day of production, and would make a splendid addition to any collection.
