Visit us online at JeremiahJohnsonTrading or find us on Facebook. Our shop is located at 1618 Saybrook Rd. Haddam, CT. Look for the gold '55 Chevy road sign! ~Trades and offers are always considered~ Very Fine M1863 Sharps New Model Percussion Civil War Saddle Ring Cavalry Carbine, .52 Cal, mfg. 1863/1864. This is an exceptional example of a Civil War issue Sharps that remains in it's original unconverted form. The barrel has turned dark plum while the remainder of the gun shows 70% bright arsenal blue with sharp edges throughout. Serial number "C21421" stamped on the upper tang with all correct clear original markings throughout. The stock is very nicely figured for a military gun. I can't recall ever having a carbine with better wood than this. It retains a beautifully untouched dark finish throughout showing moderate wear yet still having raised grain and defined edges. There is an old crack between the lever and forearm screw with an additional tight 2" crack ahead of the screw. Otherwise the wood is excellent with no further issues or repairs. Original post front sight and flip-up ladder rear sight. Complete original Maynard priming system with original buttplate, hammer, trigger, lever, lever locking nut & take down pin, saddle ring & bar, and barrel band & spring. All original screws throughout. The action is crisp and functions flawlessly. The lever securely opens and closes with no slop. Clean original nipple. Extremely sharp and bright six-groove rifling front to back with heavy scattered blackpowder frosting and pinprick pitting. A very fine and original Civil War Sharps and a choice addition to any collection.
