1874 J.P. Lower Sharps Very Accurate 1/2 Octagon Barrel
Description: J.P. Lower Sharps built 1876? Very good original case colors. Not redone. Caliber 40-70 SBN is very accurate and will shoot one and one half inch groups at 100 yds., using Rocky Mountain Cartridge brass, 62 grs., of GOEX FFG and Lyman 420 grain bullet sized .408. Viewed from the muzzle the bore is perfect but gray. Viewed from the breech there is moderate pitting in the rifling to about one inch in front of the chamber. The 28 inch, half octagon barrel is a plum brown patina, blue under the forearm wood with only small dings. The rear sight is a J.P. Lower rear sight? I believe. The wood has only small nicks and gouges and is free from cracks. Serial numbers match except the lock plate is either 12 to 14 numbers in front of , or behind the action. The penciled serial number on the inside of the forearm is not legible. Brass and dies included if desired. $60 shipping in a hard case. A very nice Frontier gun.
