FANTASTIC MODEL 1863 SHARPS NEW MODEL PERCUSSION MILITARY RIFLE
Description: There were about a thousand New Model 1863 Military rifles with a saber bayonet lug manufactured compared to 6,150 that had the front sight double as a bayonet lug. 30 inch round barrel chambered in 52 caliber. Three barrel bands for retaining the forearm. Barrel retains most all the bright blue with crisp markings and is marked "1863 New Model" as well as "T.W.R." inspector initials. Sights include the Lawrence patented folding ladder rear and a blade front. Wood is in near new condition. There are no cartouches visible on the wood. The iron patch box has most all the vivid case color as does the lock plate. Sling swivels. Features a brass handled saber bayonet that is marked "Collins and Company Hartford Connecticut" and dated 1862. The leather scabbard is in fine condition with brass ends. The blade is in fine condition also with good markings. Comes complete with an unopened box of 10 52 caliber cartridges made by Sharps. It would be hard to improve upon this Sharps Military Rifle.
