Massive 18 lb Sharps Model 1874 Target Rifle 50-140
Description: Up for sale is a Sharps Model 1874 that, at some point in its life, had a massive octagon barrel added on to it. SN 156913. While it currently does weigh in at 18 lbs, the large forearm actually makes it quite manageable to shoulder, and the extra weight helps dull the recoil of the 50-140 round a bit. Overall, the rifle is in good condition. The finish has worn on the entirety of the rifle, but no rust is visible. The barrel retains excellent rifling, and is marked as being chambered by Carl Fuller, who, from what I've read, was a gunsmith located in California. The action functions, though it appears the half cock notch is worn, and it does not engage, or was removed. The double set triggers function as they should.. It currently has, from what I can tell, a Winchester tang sight and front adjustable globe sight. The tang sight does wobble a bit, but it could be repaired or replaced by your choice of sight. The wood is in fairly good condition, with an old crack visible near the tang; while visible, the wood does not wobble or feel weak. The barrel is drilled for a scope, if you choose to go that route. Either keep it as is, or have a rear dovetail slot cut and turn it into a "buffalo rifle". The payment methods listed are the only ones that I will accept. I will also consider trades for other Sharps sporting rifles. The price includes fully insured shipping within the USA.
