Here is what appears to be a pre-Civil-War Model 1853 Slant Breech breech-loading Sharps Shotgun! Mechanism operates and hammer spring is good.Muzzle OD Approx. 0.825" Serial Number is 9311. Stamps are light but mostly legible, as follows:Lock Plate (right side): SHARP'S/PATENT/1852Receiver (left side): SH___/PATENT/1848Barrel (top rear): ______ RIFLE/MANU__ CO/_ARTFORD CONN.

Caliber Info: Bore roughly 0.65
Metal Condition: Poor - Little to no original finish remains and the metal is pitted. Several screws and the cap nipple are replacements.
Wood Condition: Fair. Buttstock finger is cracked between the tang and lockplate, but otherwise not too bad. Fore end has large repaired crack and is missing a piece on the left side.
Bore Condition: Bore is approx. 40% dark and deeply pitted.
Barrels: 21 1/2
Stock Dimensions:
LOP = 13 3/4" Length overall 37 3/8" muzzle to center of buttstock
Fore End: Has provision for ramrod.
Butt Pad: Steel
Weight: 6.4 lbs.
