C. Sharps ~ New Model 1863 Carbine ~ .50-70 Government

Description:
This C. Sharps new Model 1863 .50-70 Conversion Carbine is in very good condition for the age. Breech loading paper cartridge. 22 inch round barrel, six groove that is bright and shiny with minor pitting. Over the breech end of barrel "New Model 1863". Left side of receiver "SHARPS PAT. over SEPT. 12th 1848". Upper right side of receiver marked "R.S. LAWRENCE PAT. over APRIL 12th 1859" Lower middle of the lock cover "C. SHARPS PAT. over OCT 5th 1852". Serial number on tang "C 199994". Rear sight with elevation manufactured by "R.S. LAWRENCE over PATENTED over FEB 15th 1859".Barrel finish is a dull blue with scratches. Action functions smoothly, hammer spring feels strong. Saddle ring and bar are present. This firearm is a great representation of a "Civil War" time piece. .50-70 Government
