This is a very early Model 1874 Sharps made in Farmingdale, NY before Shiloh moved to Big Timber, MT. It was made between 1976 and 1983. It is marked as were the original Sharps rifles with the "OLD RELIABLE" and"'CALIBRE 50/3 1/4". It is in excellent condition with the original finish and minimal handling marks. It has a 28 inch barrel with an as new bore. It had the ladder sight as well as a wrist peep sight.
Very few gun of this chambering have been shot more than a few times. People never learned that you don't have to load all 140 grains of powder in the case. The case colors are almost as new as is the blueing. It has double set triggers. The stock is from a quarter sawn blank that has the grain running up and down through the wood, which is the best for strength, but is rare because of the waste in wood for stock blanks.
