1874 Sharps. 45 2'7/8" 14 pounds 30 inch
Description: 1874 Sharps rifle 45 2 7/8 caliber. 30 inch barrel with double set triggers. Heavy weight big caliber frontier rifle 13lb 13 ounce with factory letter from Dr. Moore. Serial number #161944. Very collectable rifle that was used and probably did its job well. Case hardening has faded and barrel is gray but nice across the flats. A few dings on the edges of the octagon barrel but not bad for a big heavy rifle. Walnut stock still fits well with a little shrinkage at toe and a couple marks on the left side for character. The forearm worn almost to the flats on the right side as there wasn't much to start with on these big heavy Sharps. Barrel marked "Sharp Rifle Company Bridgeport Connecticut." "Old Reliable." Double set triggers. A few bumps and bruises on the stock. Checkered metal shotgun butt plate on it. Some slivers off the forearm. 1.2 inches 33 milimeters across the flats. Decent bore. Grey, not blue finish remains. Screws are in good shape. No pitting. Case hardening is all gone. An honest frontier rifle and fun to shoot. Overall in very good condition. Reasonable offers will be considered on all listed guns. SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Sharps Model: 1873 Serial Number: 161944 Condition: Very good |
