Antique Sharps New Model 1859 Carbine .50-70 Gov't 22"bbl 1859-62mfg ***SOLD*** 11/4
Description: ***SOLD*** Antique C.S. Sharps "New Model" 1859 .50-70 Gov't Carbine, dated to 1859-62, most likely 1861. This rifle features the cartridge-firing version of the famous Sharps single-shot action, with a vertical breech and shell ejection, built into a handy carbine length. The rifle is in spectacular functional condition with a solid lock mechanism, positive half and full cock locking, as well as a tight and smooth falling breech block mechanism. The bore is in superb condition as well, with virtually no wear, and a brilliant, sharp rifled surface. The retains its original walnut furniture, with no visible cartouches, and a few minor splits that do not affect structural integrity. The finish is mostly worn off throughout the receiver, however the metal condition is excellent with no deep corrosion. The barrel still has what looks to be its original blueing towards the receiver. The breech block appears to have a small fracture on the bottom-right side, however the fracture is limited to this area and does not appear to go through the block. Please refer to the photos for overall condition. This is an absolutely beautiful example of a desirable Sharps carbine, with a brilliant bore and solid function. Don't miss out on adding it to your collection! No FFL required. Shipping $80.00 SOLD Rifle Caliber: .50-70 Government Manufacturer: Sharps Model: Carbine Serial Number: 54278 |
