ANTIQUE SHARPS New Model 1863 SADDLE RING Carbine
Description: ANTIQUE SHARPS New Model 1863 SADDLE RING Carbine Here we present an antique Sharps New Model 1863 Carbine, made circa 1864. Over 100,000 Sharps rifles and carbines were purchased and used by the federal government during the American Civil War. In 1867, the Ordnance Department contracted with the Sharps Rifle Company for conversion of over 31,000 Sharps percussion carbines to the .50-70 breech loading configuration. These carbines were issued to the regular cavalry regiments on the western frontier and remained in service until they were replaced by the Springfield Model 1873 Carbine. The carbine has a blued barrel with casehardened barrel band, receiver, loading lever and butt plate. The stock and forearm are oil-finished black walnut. The carbine is fitted with the standard folding leaf rear sight and has a sling bar and ring mounted on the left side of the stock and receiver. The left side of the receiver is stamped with the two-line Sharps patent marks and the Lawrence and Sharps patent markings are stamped on the right side of the receiver. Ordnance sub-inspection marks are stamped on most components. They went on to experience some of the most exciting times in American history during the Indian Wars, the settling of the West, and the connecting of the coasts with the railroad. This one has been re-barreled in .54 caliber smooth bore from another Sharps rifle. The overall condition is good. The iron parts have a dark patina with a good amount of blue remaining on the barrel. The markings are mostly legible. The walnut stock is in good shape. The butt stock features an iron patch box. The forearm is a later replacement. The bore is smooth and dark. The action is strong. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 22 inches. Caliber: .54 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2995 #8107 SOLD Antique: Yes |
