Description:
The firearm featured here is a pre-owned Sharps 1863 Percussion, Rolling/Falling Block, Breech-Loading, Single Shot Carbine Rifle chambered in .52 caliber in Good Condition. This antique Civil War Era rifle was issued to Calvary Soldiers during the American Civil War and was a revolutionary new design of breech-loading rifle that features the introduction of Sharps falling block mechanism. Compared to the earlier models, the Sharps 1863 Carbine features upgraded sights, an upgraded and vented priming system, a vertical block to open and seal the breech, and is the last of the Sharps models to utilize percussion caps for priming. This rifle has non-factory brass tack/stud decorations added to the buttstock and does not have a mounted saddle ring. This firearm shows typical finish wear and pitting due to the era this firearm was manufactured. Stamping: Right-Hand side of the lock plate: "C. SHARPS' PAT OCT 5th 1852" / "R.S.
