C Sharps

Description:
Original Civil War Sharps New Model 1859. Paper cartridges. On of the few that did not get reworked for metal cartridges in 1863. .52 Cal.
Sight and Lock Box stamped R.S. Lawrence patent 1859. Other stamp C. Sharps patent 1852. Left side stamp C. Sharps patent 1848. Serial numbers match, on top of tang and on underside of barrel under the wood. 51997. Barrel is 21 1/2 inches long. Great bore has 6 very good deep grooves. Bore is very clean but has slight pitting in one area. There is a crack in the right fore stock. Fore stock has a thin chip on the left side at the breech. The weapon is notched 4 cuts in this area. Has saddle ring bar but ring is missing. Great mechanical condition, Works smoothly, is very tight and has good strong spring.
