CIVIL & INDIAN WARS SHARPS New Model 1863 .50-70 GOVT Cavalry Carbine Antique Classic Civil War/Old West Saddle Ring Carbine
Description: CIVIL & INDIAN WARS SHARPS New Model 1863 .50-70 GOVT Cavalry Carbine Antique Classic Civil War/Old West Saddle Ring Carbine Here we present an antique Sharps New Model 1863 Carbine, made circa 1863-65, then converted to 50-70 Govt circa 1867 for use in the West by the federal government. Over 100,000 Sharps rifles and carbines were purchased and used by the federal government during the American Civil War. In 1867, the Ordnance Department contracted with the Sharps Rifle Company for conversion of over 31,000 Sharps percussion carbines to the .50-70 breech loading configuration. They went on to experience some of the most exciting times in American history during the Indian Wars, the settling of the Western Frontier, and the connecting of the coasts with the railroad. These carbines were issued to the regular cavalry regiments on the western frontier and remained in service until they were replaced by the Springfield Model 1873 Carbine. The overall condition is near fine. Very nice, old blue finish. Excellent action. Bright, sharply rifled bore. The walnut stock is solid throughout with a cartouche remnant on the left wrist. A great carbine in a big, black powder cartridge with great dual history! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 20 inches. Caliber: .50-70 GOVT Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3745 #210348 SOLD Antique: Yes |
