CIVIL WAR Antique SHARPS New Model 1863 CARBINE
Description: CIVIL WAR Antique SHARPS New Model 1863 CARBINE Rifle in Original Percussion Configuration Here we present an antique Sharps New Model 1863 Rifle, made circa 1863 in Hartford, Connecticut. The most famous, single-shot percussion firearm used during the Civil War was the Sharps carbine, a .52 caliber breech-loading firearm invented and patented by Hartford native Christian Sharps. Over 100,000 Sharps rifles and carbines were purchased and used by the federal government during the American Civil War. These powerful, accurate and reliable rifles certainly saw history from a firsthand perspective during the conflicts leading up to the Civil War, the war itself, and beyond on the frontier. The top of this carbine’s barrel is marked “SHARPS RIFLE/MANUFG. CO./HARTFORD, CONN.” and “NEW MODEL 1863”. The right side of the frame is marked “C. SHARPS’ PAT/OCT. 5TH 1853” and “R.S. LAWRENCE’ PAT/APRIL 12TH 1859”. The left side of the frame is marked “SHARPS’ PAT/SEPT 12TH 1846”. The overall condition is good. The barrel has good blue finish. The markings are clear. The stock is in good shape. The forestock is newer than the butt stock, probably just a replacement for one damaged. The bore is in great shape, clean with good rifling. The action is excellent. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 22 inches. Caliber: .52 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2600 #8389 SOLD Antique: Yes |
