CIVIL WAR Antique SHARPS New Model 1863 RIFLE
Description: CIVIL WAR Antique SHARPS New Model 1863 RIFLE Rifle in Original Percussion Configuration Here we present an antique Sharps New Model 1863 Rifle, made circa 1863 in Hartford, Connecticut. Over 100,000 Sharps rifles and carbines were purchased and used by the federal government during the American Civil War. These powerful, accurate and reliable rifles certainly saw history from a firsthand perspective during the conflicts leading up to the Civil War, the war itself, and beyond on the frontier. The top of this carbine’s barrel is marked “SHARPS RIFLE/MANUFG. CO./HARTFORD, CONN.” and “NEW MODEL 1863”. The right side of the frame is marked “C. SHARPS’ PAT/OCT. 5TH 1853” and “R.S. LAWRENCE’ PAT/APRIL 12TH 1859”. The left side of the frame is marked “SHARPS’ PAT/SEPT 12TH 1846”. The left side of the barrel has the initials “F.P.B.” and the left of the stock has two thin but visible government inspector cartouches. The overall condition is very good. Blue and case colors are visible and thinning into a plum patina. The markings are clear and legible. The stock is in great shape with visible cartouches. The bore is in very good condition with sharp rifling. The action on this rifle is excellent. Here is a scarce, full-length Sharps rifled that was inspected and issued during the American Civil War! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 30 inches. Caliber: .52 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE.
