CIVIL WAR SHARPS MODEL 1863 3 BAND RIFLE AND BAYONET

Description:
.52 caliber, 30" round barrel marked "NEW MODEL 1863" and secured by 3 barrel bands.  Original lever actuated percussion falling block action and external hammer.  Full length walnut forend and straight grip buttstock with iron hinged patchbox and ending with a steel buttplate.  Original front blade sight and Lawrence rear barrel sight. In excellent original condition with the barrel having considerable blue mixing with brown patina.  The receiver and lock retaining fading case colors mixing with a pleasing brown/gray patina.  Excellent marking on all of the appropriate parts.   All of the U.S. inspector's markings are very crisp.  The cartouche's located on the left buttstock flat are sharp with the upper one having ding that partially obscure it.  Mint bore.  Accompanied by it's original bayonet.
