Sharps m 1859 Conversion...James McKenzie, Co. D, 2nd ILL Cavalry
Description: S O L D ...........James McKenzie, Co. D, 2nd ILL Cavalry ID'd Sharps m 1859 Conversion.......LAYAWAY?.... I just aquired this carbine, and no research has been done on James McKenzie...50-70 Government. 22" barrel length. SN: 53907. Blued metal finish to barrel and case hardened finish to rest of stock fixtures. Walnut stock has a plain straight grip and forearm with single barrel band. Cartridge altered falling block rifle with folding adjustable notch rear sight that is missing sliding notch bar. Item features a saddle bar and ring on left side, buttplate without patchbox cutaway, and three groove rifling. Markings include NEW MODEL 1859 to top of barrel, and sub inspector marks C and W.C. on left side of barrel. Left side of frame has obscured Sharps 1848 patent marks. Right side of frame shows R.S. Lawrence 1859 primer patent date marks and C. Sharps 1852 patent date marks, both to lock plate. Upper tang is marked with serial number and lower tang is marked with an H to tail. There is an obscured mark, possibly an H, to lower tang in front of trigger. Left side of buttstock has a D.F.C. banner David F. Clark inspector cartouche, as well as A.W.M. Allen W. Mather inspector marks to comb of stock. Condition: Very Good +. Bore is bright and shows very scattered light pitting to rifling, heavier toward muzzle. I would consider it fireable. Finish to barrel is an evenly fadedCase hardened finish to frame and barrel. Stock has minor marks and a banner cartouche. Action functions nicely!...S/H $55....2nd FIREARM SHIPS FREE WITH THIS ONE!...
