Iron Mounted Sharps 1853 Sporting Rifle .36 Cal.. With Saddle Ring On Lower Tang.
Description: This rifle was finished bright from the factory.
This gun was made near the beginning of the 1853 rifle production. The lock plate has # 3177 stamped on it so it was probably a left over 1852 lock however in all our years collectoring and dealing in slant breech Sharps we have never seen a lock plate with a serial # on the exterior.
The buttstock appears to have 2 plugged holes done many years years ago.
There is a saddle ring on the lower tang.
The bore measures .41 and is very good with deep rifling.
