Yet another Nice, Used, Sharps Borchardt Rifle from the Family Collection; SN 16,4XX; 29-Inch Original Sharps Medium-Heavy Round Barrel that’s Relined to .22 Hornet Caliber with excellent bore & rifling. The left side of the receiver is marked in three lines “BORCHARDT PATENT / SHARPS RIFLE CO BRIDGEPORT CONN. / U.S.A.” Serial Number is on the bottom of the Receiver between the Breech Block and Trigger. The Top of the Barrel is marked “OLD RELIABLE” with no oval surround; followed by “SHARPS RIFLE CO B(RIDGEPORT CONN)” – with only the “B” of Bridgeport showing in front of the Rear Dovetail Scope Base. There are no sights. Both the Pistol Grip Stock and Forend are Nicely Checkered in a Wrap-Around Diamond Border Pattern – with Straight Grain on the Buttstock and Beautiful Fiddleback Figure to the Grain on the Forend. There’s what looks like an Ebony Forend Cap/Finial; A Checkered Steel Pistol Grip Cap; One Barrel Band Sling Swivel, and another Swivel on the Buttstock – which has a shallow hand-textured/checkered Steel Niedner Buttplate. Both sides of the receiver and much of the top & sides of the barrel are lightly/shallow etched – barely deep enough to feel with a fingernail, and probably easily blued-over if desired.
