Description:
For your consideration is an extremely rare example of a Sharps Borchardt Sporting rifle. Thus is the the highly unusual pairing of an octagon top receiver to an octagon bbl. Making it even more rare and unusual is the calibre 40 2 1/2 (40-70 SS), as the vast majority of these rifles were chambered in 45 calibre. There are perhaps less than 50 of these in existence. Built in approximately 1879, it sports a bright and sharp bore, with no cracks in the wood and normal aging of the metal. I have about 20 correct head stamped brass and an additional 30 pcs of brass, plus RCBS Legacy dies. Due to age and health, I am thinning my extensive collection of single shots. Price is 7500. Reasonable as well as unreasonable offers considered. Rifle is located in Alaska.
