Sharps Model 1863 S.R.C. Early W/Iron Mountings
Description: Sharps Model 1859 saddle Ring Carbine. The serial number of this example is 742XX. Overall condition is very good and way above average. Only 3000 of these early models were manufactured with "Brass Trim" and most saw duty in Georgia during the Civil War. Mostly an even grey patina this example has a tight, smooth and mechanically perfect action. The bore is excellent, bright and shiny with strong rifling. The bore will rate an 8 on a 1 to 10 scale. Faint markings on right side plate including inspectors initials seen through out. I see a stain/blemish middle exterior of barrel, possibly results of "Blood Pitting". Wood to metal fit is perfect. There is a very small hairline crack seen in the middle of the stock starting at the side plate. Very nice untouched example of an early Civil War Sharps 1859 Carbine. I wish this Carbine could talk. Please phone Tommy at (760)-912-3761 or e-mail all questions and concerns. $35.00 shipping. Insurance will be additional. SOLD Antique: Yes |
