U.S. military .50-70 conversion of a Civil War Sharps New Model 1863 carbine. This is an excellent example of the 3-groove lined barrel, cam type firing pin conversion (AKA Model 1868). This gun retains nearly all its conversion refinish. The barrel and band have approximately 98% blue. The approximately 50% case colors with the remainder being a smooth blue/brown. The wood is excellent with no crack or chip. The “DFC” banner cartouche is on the left butt stock. The action functions correctly and the bore is excellent. This would be a hard carbine to find in better shape. A key Indian Wars piece!
