The hammer cocks to half and full cock but the mainspring is missing or broken.
These very early Sharps were prone to powder leaking from the breech and gathering under the forearm. This has happened to this example causing a large section of the forearm to be blown off.
The bore is very dark.
The front barrel band spring is stuck in the down position letting the band slip foreward.
