SHILOH SHARPS 1874 No. 3 OCTAGON SPORTER IN .50-70 CALIBER
Description: SHILOH SHARPS 1874 No. 3 OCTAGON SPORTER IN .50-70 CALIBER, #4XXX. This is a late Farmingdale, New York production rifle made about 1982 (a few years before the move to Montana). Some of the early NY guns were "long throated" for paper patch bullets, this one has the standard chambering/throating for grease groove bullets. Has a 30" standard octagon barrel with double set triggers, nice medium dark walnut, case colored receiver, hammer, lever and lightly curved steel military butt plate. The barrel has the Shiloh markings plus the iconic "OLD RELIABLE" stamping found only on early rifles. Comes with a semi-buckhorn ladder rear sight with slide mounted on the barrel with a blade front sight and an unused, new additional full buckhorn ladder Shiloh sight. Near new overall with only a few very minor handling marks you'd hve to look carefully to find. Bright exc. bore. Weighs just under 10 lbs which is a good weight for a Sharps hunting rifle that is not too heavy to lug around (especially in the mountains!). Also, the .50-70 case is 1 3/4" long which makes it now legal for hunting in many Mid-Western states. Current catalog price with the extra sight an Federal Excise Tax (charged on all new rifles) would be just under $2800 with a 2 1/2 year wait and price increases along the way. My price on this one is $2495. SOLD Rifle Caliber: .50-70 Government Manufacturer: SHILOH RIFLE Model: 1874 No. 3 SPORTER Serial Number: 4XXX Barrel Length: 30" OCT. Condition: EXCELLENT Bore Condition: EXCELLENT |
