Rare SIG & AMT Rifle (7.62mm NATO)
Description: Serial #16159, 7.62mm NATO, 18 3/4" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a Benet Arms-imported rifle that has all-matching numbers, and retains 97-98% of the original matte blue finish on the formed sheet metal receiver and trigger housing. The rest of the metal retains a commensurate amount of the original blue finish, with some traces of silvering along a few of the high edges and exposed surfaces. The walnut buttstock and handguard are in fine-excellent shape, but do have a few scattered handling marks and blemishes marring the original varnish, most noticeably on the handguard from contact with the legs of the folding bipod. A single 10 rd. magazine is included. These commercial rifles were based on the SIG 510-4 7.62mm NATO export variant of the Swiss military’s StGw 57 assault rifle, and were only imported in very small numbers; not more than 3,000 rifles between 1969 and 1989. This is a fine-excellent example of a very rare military style rifle, and would make a great addition to any collection. FFL SOLD |
