Martini Cadet 22 lr.
Description: SOLD For sale is a Martini Cadet Rifle 22 lr. which has had the barrel relined. More about that in a moment. The length of pull is about 14 3/8." It looks to have have the original Martini Stock sanded and refinished. The woood has some nice figure in it (see pictures). It looks to have an original Martini butt plate on it as well. (See Picture). There are swivel studs in both the butt stock and the forearm. The forearm looks to be an original Martini forearm that has been shapened and sanded and refinished. The bluing on the gun has been redone, and the breech bolt has been jeweled. The barrel from the end of the muzzle to the front of the action is 24 7/16 " long. There are two barrel blocks installed, and there are actually 4 other holes in the top of the barrel (se the pictue showing this, with 3 of the holes having plug screws in them, and one without a plug screw very close to the front of the rear barrel block. The third screw from the front doesn't have a flush plug screw in it, it sits above the barrel every so slightly. The 4th drilled and tapped screw hole is very close to the rear black, and doesn't have any screw in it. I have no idea what scopes were on this gun over the years. Now, let me explain the relining of the barrel. At the muzzle I have showed a pictue ot this, where it shows "Rifled by Alf J. Parker. This man was the son of the Parker-Hale enterprise. Because copywirght law does not allow me to copy and paste this information here, you will have to go on the Internet and get this information yourself. However, I will summarize it for you here. In sum, the Alf J. Parker relined barrels were better than the originals. They were more accurate and reliable than the original borings. An Alf J. Parker is a better shooter than the original Martini. This particular gun is the thin side wall Martini Action, which would make it (in my humble opinion) a Model 6 or Model 8 (it is not the thick side Model 12 or 15). I am by no means a Martini expert. I actually bought this gun for the intent of making a custom Martini 22 WMR, but, one came along my way that would enable me to do this with less modification that would have been necessary with this particular gun. I have not shot the gun. I do believe that it would shoot very well if equipped with a proper scope. The blocks that are on the gun are Unertl blocks-- I mounted a Unertl sope on them and it tighented down firmly. I wondered about the blocks and their alignment, but it might have been the scope that I used. Call or email me if you have any questions. I am just looking to get this gun to a good home to someone who can use it. On the right side of the butt stock is a small indentation. See picture # 10 for a better view of this.
