Description: 1929 GERMAN STALKING Rifle ENGTR. SCHUTZMARKE Herold SINGLE SHOT 8.15x46mmR Great Rifle for Hunting! Here we present a Schutzmarke “Herold” German Single Shot Stalking Rifle in 8.15x46R, made circa 1929 in Germany. Not too many German single shot hunting rifles can be found because most serious hunters likely owned either a “Drilling”, a combination gun, or a bolt action Sporting Rifle. But there were those who know they needed only one shot, and they were the ones that were attracted to this type of rifle. This would have been a very handy rifle to carry and load for the forester or hunter. Its single shot action would have been great to teach a young lad the importance of making every shot count! “K.m. G./N 12 gr.” can be read on the left side of the barrel. “Herold/ENGTR. SCHUTZMARKE” is engraved in Script on the left frame. “7.7”, “46 ½” and “1/29” are stamped on the underside of the barrel with BUG proofs. The overall condition is fine. Original blue and case colored finish. The action is strong all around. The bore is mirror bright. The checkering remains sharp.
