WESTPHAL Side x Side GERMAN MADE Combination Rifle & Shotgun CAPE GUN C&R
VERY NICE Hunting Gun with UNDERLEVER RELEASE
Description: WESTPHAL Side x Side GERMAN MADE Combination Rifle & Shotgun CAPE GUN C&R VERY NICE Hunting Gun with UNDERLEVER RELEASE Here we present a C&R H. Westphal Double Barrel Side x Side Combination Rifle & Shotgun Cape Gun, manufactured circa the turn of the century in Peine, Germany. These were typically high-end hunting weapons that featured a side by side configuration with one barrel rifled and the other smooth. The hunter would use the rifled barrel to fire long range, precise shots against large game and the smooth side could be loaded with a large ball or slug for a quick follow up shot, especially on large and dangerous game. Or the smooth bore could be loaded with shot to make it feasible to hunt fowl at the same time without carrying multiple guns. The gun has two triggers to allow either barrel as needed. Cape guns made in Germany, Belgium, and Austria usually have the rifled barrel on the right side (as is this one), while British made cape guns are usually reversed. These were supremely handy firearms that could also be used to defend the homestead or put game on the table. The overall condition is good. Strong action. Bright bores (smooth and rifled). This example sports a solid stock throughout with average wear. Legible markings. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrels are 26 inches. Caliber: Right – 8mm ; Left – 16 Gauge Chamber: 2-3/4 inches Choke: Cylinder LOP: 13-3/4 inches Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1200 #227991 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
