Sharps Model 1878 Borchardt Military Rifle .45-70 Caliber

Description:
This Military Model of the 1878 Borchardt rifle has a 42 1/2 inch barrel with an excellent bore.  The action was considered the strongest action of the 19 th century.
Many of these actions were made into varmit rifles in the 50's and 60's.  This rifle was marketed by L. P. Lower in Denver CO in the 1880's as per his cartouche on the left rear of the stock.  All markings are sharp and it is marked "Old Reliable" on the barrel.  The action is tight and the safety works as designed and it is mechanically fine.  It has much of the original finish with the rest a brown patina and the wood displays the Frontier issued character with a repair and  hairline cracks. 
A good rifle for the range or field and should qualify for Military Matches.  Check it out with the ZOOM.  It comes with the original leather sling.
