Interesting Belgian proofed Snider carbine in .577. Possibly a Boer War veteran, but no proof. The carbine has a 20.75" barrel. Barrel has an overall plumb brown patina with areas of bright metal. Bore has some grain throughout, but very shootable. Numerous Belgian proofs. Rear sight adjustable to 400 yards (meters?). Has a bayonet lug. Stock has numerous bumps and scratches, but no major issues. It has an atypical two piece patchbox. Leather sling appears contemporary to carbine. Lock is marked TOWER 1869 and Crown. Has lead firing pin protector on brass chain. Metal parts profusely proofed. This is a Second Variation Snider action. The block release catch has sheared off. I believe, however, that it can be safely fired, as the block rotates sideways and hammer holds it firmly in place. Comes with brand new Lyman dies and 50 new Magtech 24 gauge brass cases ready to trim and form. $750 + Shipping.
