Romanian M56 SKS 7.62x39 Caliber w/ Blade Bayonet
**Beautiful**
SOLD
Description: The Romanian Model 56 SKS is a beautifully made SKS variant. The Romanian Model 56s were all made at the Cugir Factory in Romania, a very old metal working factory where they had been producing steel since the year 1799. This factory was well known for producing very high quality materials and weapons. The Romanians made the Model 56 SKS for a total of four years, from 1957 to 1960. Total production is estimated to be between 70 to 90K rifles. These Model 56s feature beautiful machining and polishing, a chrome lined bore, an attached blade-type bayonet, a laminated stock, and a reputation for great accuracy and reliability. Not many of these Romanian SKSs were imported into the U.S. and they are much scarcer than the Russian and Chinese made models in circulation today. This example is serial number RC2491 and was manufactured in the last year of production, 1960. It is in good condition overall and is excellent mechanically. It is not all matching numbers but is 100% Romanian. The receiver, bolt, and top cover are numbers matching; the magazine, trigger group, and stock are not. This is very common as all original stamped numbers matching guns are very scarce. The original high polish blue finish is beautiful and shows just a little wear on some of the high edges and some small handling marks. The bore in this SKS is minty and bright. The rifling still has sharp lands and grooves and shows no pitting or erosion whatsoever. The stock is also in good shape overall. It has some small dings, dents, and scratches, but is completely free from cracks or repairs. The stock is still quite attractive with a glossy appearance over the red glue laminate. The folding blade bayonet still has 96% of the factory satin hard chrome finish on it with just some small nicks along the edges and the the finish chipped off the tip. As mentioned before this Model 56 SKS is 100% mechanically sound and everything functions like the day it left the factory in 1960. The bolt works smoothly and has plenty of spring pressure. The safety works properly and the two stage combat style trigger breaks cleanly without any grittiness. If you have been looking for a top quality SKS to add to your collection this Romanian Model 56 is every bit as good and attractive as the Russian made examples and is substantially less common. This Model 56 would be an excellent investment as well as a great shooter.
