This Springfield Armory M1D .30-06 caliber sniper rifle was sold by the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) in 1997. It is accompanied by its original shipping box which shows that it was shipped from the CMP North Store in Port Clinton, Ohio. It is one of the guns built into the M1D configuration for the Korean War. The S-A-9-52 barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. The rust inhibiting bore tube is still present. The gun has approx. 98% of its parkerized finish. The stock assembly is fine wiht a circle P (and evidence of an earlier one) on the pistol grip. It is equipped with a like new leather cheek piece which is marked MRT over 10 52. A Korean War era sling and M2 flash hider by the Hart Manufacturing Company are also present. The cleaning kit in the butt trap is present. The like new M84 telescope sight is correctly mounted. It has excellent optics. The action functions correctly but should be lubricated if you plan to shoot it. It doesn't appear that this M1D has been shoot or touched since its Korean War assembly. A nicer one would be extremely dirricult to find.
