"Serial No. 8368, circa 1865, .50 caliber, 20"" round 6 groove barrel. Barrel and receiver are a mostly brown/grey patina with heavy surface oxidation around the muzzle. ""M 1865"" is marked behind the rear sight. Receiver is stamped with correct factory markings. Bore is good with frosting visible in the lands and grooves, small area of pitting noted near the muzzle. Rifling remains strong. Forearm shows wood loss right side and crack on the left just forward of the receiver. Butt stock has expected nicks, dings and scratches, saddle ring and bar have been removed Carbine is equipped with the Stabler cut off device, this allowed the carbine to be fired single shot. Action functions correctly.
