*Sale Pending* - SPENCER CIVIL WAR CARBINE
Description: This is a post-war-refurbished carbine made by Spencer Repeating Rifle Company with a 22 inch round 3-Groove barrel with a very bright shiny bore and strong rifling. Barrel is mostly thinning original blue with some plum/brown showing through. Original sights. Receiver has smokey case color showing through a mild brown patina with good case color in the protected areas. Markings are lightly worn but mostly visible. Just a few small inspector marks are visible. Stabler cutoff switch. Walnut stocks are in very good condition retaining strong oil finish and just a few minor dings and handling marks. Nice functioning action. This carbine is listed by serial number in the Springfield Research as being issued during the Civil War in August 1864 to Company B of the 2nd Michigan Volunteer Cavalry. These carbines would have been issued to be used in the Second Battle of Franklin and Battle of Selma. The unit mustered out in August 1865 and having suffered 342 casualties during the war. This is a nice example of a Civil War used and then refurbished post-service. Leroy Merz Antique Firearms specializes in antique and vintage Winchesters and other fine American firearms.
