Spencer rifle #2168 which falls within Col. Copelands 3rd. purchase order of 200 rifles serial ranges 2051 to 2250,last order,late January 1863.The first 900 guns went to the 5 Michigan cav.,with the remaining to the 6th Michigan cav.These guns were used by Custer's cav. on the east cav. field battle of Gettysburg against Jeb Stuarts cav with devastating effect.A copy of Historian Wiley Sword's October 1997 Man at Arms artical goes to the purchaser.A very historic gun as all are 1200 rifles as they were used extensively in the last 2 years of the war.Finding one in fine or better condition is basically non existent.This rifle is in good complete condition with matching numbers,full length rifling in bore,action works as it should.Questions give me a call,Jerry (408)847-7148
