Original Spencer Sporting Rifle
Description: These very early low production sporters were made in late 1864 and early 1865 utilizing militaty recievers that were not milled fo accept the carbine sling ring bar. The serial number on the reciever was partialy obliterated when they drilled for the reciever tang sight. The complete serial number is on the bottom of the barrel and is in the range of the military guns. The bore is strong with good rifling and minor rough areas. Gun is missing the tang sight. There is a repair to the right side of the forearm wood. The action works as it should and is chambered for the 46-56 cartridge.
