Spencer Civil War Repeating Carbine.....LAYAWAY?

REDUCED $445...........LAYAWAY?.....  serial #16506, 56 Spencer, 22” barrel with six-groove rifling and a partially bright fair-good bore showing some scattered patches of moderate pitting and oxidation with good rifling throughout. The metal surfaces of this carbine have mostly toned to a deep plum-brown patina showing some scattered very old minor oxidation and the action with some areas of medium gray patina showing a series of old light dings along the top left edge that are unobtrusive. The Spencer address and patent date along the top of the action have softened from the years and remain mostly legible. The lever shows an interesting modification having been flared out and elongated, the work obviously done by some period frontier gunsmith as the patina corresponds perfectly with the balance of the arm. The smooth walnut buttstock and forend remain in good to about very good condition overall showing an old added varnish with scattered old abrasions and dings, the finish reacquiring a craquelure and the tip of the forend showing a small chip and a couple thin cracks. The rear sight leaf is intact missing its slider and spring and the magazine tube assembly have been lost to the years. Barrel band is missing as well.....The barrel is matching the frame and the action otherwise seems to function well mechanically.
