Originally developed around the concept of providing aircrews and outdoorsmen with a lightweight, dependable survival firearm, the Springfield Armory M6 Survival Gun remains one of the most recognizable utility firearms ever produced. Its ingenious over/under configuration combines a .22 Long Rifle barrel with a .410 shotgun barrel, delivering tremendous versatility in a remarkably compact package. This early Geneseo-produced example is made even more desirable by its original factory box.

The .22 LR barrel offers economical, accurate shooting for small game while the .410 chamber provides the flexibility of birdshot or defensive loads when needed. A simple barrel selector allows the shooter to instantly choose between rifle and shotgun barrels without unnecessary complexity. The robust break-action design has earned a reputation for reliability under harsh field conditions where simplicity is paramount.

Constructed almost entirely of steel and finished in a durable matte phosphate coating, the M6 was engineered to withstand extreme environments while remaining easy to maintain. Its skeletonized folding stock keeps weight to a minimum and incorporates internal storage for additional cartridges. Adjustable rear sights provide a surprisingly effective sight picture while maintaining the rugged simplicity expected from a true survival firearm.
