c1903 US SPRINGFIELD ARMORY Model 1898 KRAG .30-40 Bolt Action C&R RIFLE
Rifle from the Spanish-American & Philippine Wars Period
Description: c1903 US SPRINGFIELD ARMORY Model 1898 KRAG .30-40 Bolt Action C&R RIFLE Rifle from the Spanish-American & Philippine Wars Period Here we present a U.S. Springfield Krag-Jorgensen Bolt Action Rifle, made at the turn of the 20th Century in 1904. Named after its inventors, Norwegian Royal Artillery officer Ole Hermann Johannes Krag and civilian Erik Jorgensen, the Krag-Jorgensen rifle was the first small caliber smokeless powder repeating long arm to be adopted by the U.S. Army. This rifle also marked the beginning of the change from large caliber/low muzzle velocity ammo to smaller caliber/higher energy rounds for military applications. Fifty-three different models were tested and rejected before the Army’s 1892 adoption of the Krag-Jorgensen. This example has a “JSA/1903” cartouche. Also included is a “1900” dated bayonet, metal scabbard, a “1903 dated Rock Island Arsenal leather sling, and the three-piece cleaning rod in the buttstock. This rifle has it all! The overall condition is fine. Original blue. Strong, smooth action. Bright bore with very nice. Fine stock showcases a sharp cartouche on the left wrist and a “circle/P” on the pistol grip. The included bayonet and sling are in great shape. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 30 inches. Caliber: .30-40 Krag Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2525 #217851 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
