Krag Model 1896 Rifle Full Military Configuration Nice!
Description:
This is a nice unaltered Model 1896 Krag rifle. It is serial number 96914, made At Springfield Armory around March 1898 right before the armory started producing the Model 1898 Krags. This nice rifle is a very shootable rifle that functions excellently, has some mild pitting in the bore but nothing deep and the rifling is still strong which should make it a good accurate rifle. The barrel is the original 30 inch barrel. These Model 1896 rifles may have seen action during some wars or skirmishes as well as used later by National Guards or Army before the Model 1903 rifles were readily available.
The front and rear sights are in great shape, the stock is good with normal wear, the metal has not been refinished. Chamber and bolt look good. I examined the bolt and do not see any damage or excess wear. There is just a faint outline of a cartouche visible. Patina looks good for the age of this rifle. Everything functions quite nice as it all should. It is cleaned well and lubricated.
Please contact me if there are any questions. This is an antique and does not require FFL registration. I am selling some of my Krag collection and may have more in the future. Thanks!
