Springfield 1865 Rifled Forager

Description:
Very interesting Springfield 1865 dated forager with a a rifled bore and a small bead front sight. Exterior metal is aged brown patina, and the 24" barrel has strong rifling and shallow surface oxidation.CAliber .58, and has a rear slotted/dovetail sight.Action is atrong, and has an simple iron ram-rod. The walnut shortened walnut stock is dark with age, and still has the U.S. marked butt-plate where as the trigger guard looks like it was re-blued at some time, but fits tight. The left side of the stock still has two oval U.S. Gov't proof marks. An interesting multi-putpose musket/forager. Possible Confederate calbvary altered musket? When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith  before  shooting.
