Springfield Armory M1922 M2 Caliber .22LR Training Rifle
Description:
*SOLD* This rifle was developed to get new recruits used to both the weight and size of the 30-06 M1903 Springfield. By making it .22 LR the recoil was hardly noticeable and the recruits could gain confidence by hitting their targets. The other bonus was by using .22 ammo it cut down on ammo costs.
This rifle is in very good mechanical condition with a bright bore and strong rifling. The SA cartouhe is very evident as is the flaming Bomb on barrel marked 6-42 which makes it June of 1942. The serial number 20,990. The magazine holds 5 rounds the same as the M1903 does. The one and only down side of this rifle is the crack in the wood ahead of the barrel band on the left side. I have owned this for many years and only noticed the crack after I removed from the safe. If it wasn't for the crack (in photo) I would have listed it with a higher price as otherwise it's in real good condition.
At 77 I have to start thinning my collection and passing them on to those that appreciate what I have collected over the years.
