U.S. Antique SPRINGFIELD Model 1816 Conversion Musket
Description: U.S. Antique SPRINGFIELD Model 1816 Conversion Musket Dated “1832” Here we present an antique Springfield Model 1816 Musket, made in 1832 in Springfield, Massachusetts. This musket would have originally been made in the flintlock format, then updated to percussion to extend its service life. The Model 1816 was the largest production of U.S. flintlock muskets, with an impressive run from 1816-1840. Both national armories, Springfield and Harpers Ferry, were involved as were about 16 different contractors. Conflicts during this period included numerous encounters with Native Americans, as well as the Mexican-American War. The lock is marked “SPRING/FIELD/1832” and “US” with a federal eagle. The barrel bears the “P” in a circle and eagle head. The butt plate is marked “US”. This example was shortened at some point for sporting use. Front barrel band and front sight are replacements. Metal has a mixed patina, but mostly bright. The markings are legible. The walnut stock has been sanded and remnants of cartouche remains. The bore is smooth and clean with a nice layer of dust. The action is strong. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 29-1/2 inches. Caliber: .69 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $550 #5077 SOLD Antique: Yes |
